Formed in the year 2014, FC Pune City is a football club that represents the city of Pune in the Indian Super League. FC Pune City was created with a philosophy to provide stimulus to the growth of the sport in the state of Maharashtra.

The club is owned by Rajesh Wadhawan Group and its promoters Mr.Kapil Wadhawan, Mr. Dheeraj Wadhawan.
FC Pune City’s home stadium is Balewadi Sports Complex. The logo of the club is a shield with orange and purple stripes representing the city of Pune. The logo also includes symbols of fort and horses in the logo represents strong defence and swift attack respectively; also alluding to the proud history of Marathas and their war strategy of strong fortification and guerrilla attacks.
In its short history, the club has been managed by David Platt, Franco Colomba & Antonio Habas. The club has boasted of global superstars such as Momo Sissoko, David Trezeguet, Adrian Mutu, Kostas Katsouranis, Didier Zokora, Tuncay Sanli, Emanuele Belardi, & Bruno Cirillo among others.
In 2016, FC Pune City became the only Indian Super League club in India to have teams which participated at all levels of professional football; Senior Team (ISL), U-18 Team (I-League U-18), U- 16 Team, U-14 Team and the Women’s Team
