Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor has joined hands with FC Pune City as the new co-owner and brand ambassador of the club, ahead of season four of the Indian Super League (ISL).
The ‘Ishaqzaade’ and ‘Two States’ star has visited the Balewadi Stadium in the past to cheer the team and with the aforementioned development has taken a giant step towards becoming an integral part of the club.
At the launch event of the new co-owner, Arjun elucidated that he is excited to take up the assignment.
“On a personal level, I always wanted to play a sport in my childhood but I could not do so. I am overwhelmed with the opportunity to join FC Pune City in the capacity of an owner and I believe that if I could not play, the second best thing was to be a part of a football club,” Arjun said.
Arjun went on to explain further that he aims to be a part of the day-to-day decision making of the club.
“I aim to ease into the role this year. I want to visit Pune, be with team, interact with the fans but basically be a support system. I think I will be in a much better position to be involved in decision making by the beginning of next season. I am in this for the long run and I aim to contribute as much as possible,” the 32-year-old actor said.
The CEO of FC Pune City also expressed his happiness on Arjun coming on-board.
“FC Pune City welcomes Arjun Kapoor as the co- owner of the club. His involvement with the club will surely give an impetus to us to connect with a larger audience across the state as well as nationally. He is a die hard fan of the game and we are glad to have someone like him with us” Modwel expressed.
